Woot played professionally for approximately 15 years after graduating from McCallum H.S. in Austin, Class of 1975.  He went into semi-retirement in '85 to raise a family and now plays for fun and to maintain his sanity.  Starting his musical career playing bass, Woot changed his direction after seeing Tom Waits perform at the Paramount Theater in the late '70s which inspired him to learn piano/keys.  Self-taught, he has been playing keys/piano for the past 27 years.

Over the years Woot has played for many bands including:  Rabbit (76-83), Carla & the Cast (83-85), Crystal Image (85-87), XKE (88-90), Kikker (90-93), The Rockhounds (93-96), Kikker II (96-98), Rosanna Hill (98), The Heroes (99-01), The Shelton Ray Band (2003-2006), and the StingRays (2007).  He has had the opportunity to open for artists such as Crowded House, Neal McCoy, Amazing Thythm Aces, Geezinslaws Brothers, Eric Johnson.

Originally from Nashville, Shelton moved to Austin in 1996 and has become a true Texas girl.  A former studio/demo vocalist, Shelton's musical influences include many of the great female singers of our time, from Bonnie Raitt to Billie Holiday.  Raised singing gospel music and playing classical piano, she adds a unique perspective and sound to many musical genres.

She has played with local Austin bands, Riverchild, Chain Reaction, Crystal Image, The Shelton Ray Band and now is thrilled to be involved with the StingRays and the years of experience and talent the group brings to the Austin live music scene.

Jason Talley was born and raised in Austin.  He is a multi-instrumentalist and was in the all-state band (2 years) at Cedar Park High School playing bass clarinet.  Jason fronted a high school rock 'n roll band "Later", on guitar and vocals.  He was invited to play bass in the StingRays in 2008, with limited experience and has picked up the bass instrument beautifully.  In addition to the StingRays, Jason also plays bass in a brand new band "As Luck Would Have It".

David Moreno- Drums

Photography by Sarah Wentworth

Kerrville, Texas born, David Moreno made his way to Austin via west Texas (Ozona), through North Texas (Abilene, Dallas), and finally arrived where he belongs.  From early on, he got the “drum bug” from his uncle, who would play along to Grand Funk Railroad records.  David’s early influences included GFR, Journey, Santana, Rush and Van Halen, with a little Mo Town thrown in.
Arriving in Austin during the heyday of hair metal, he worked his way through several local bands (911, Justus, Blacksmith), and many, many cans of Aqua Net!
When guitarist, Kyle Bengtson, approached David about joining the Stingrays, little did he know what a pool of talent he was diving into!
